The Grace Missionary Baptist is located at 2217 Belmont Lane, Redondo Beach, CA. Former G.M.B.C. names have been; Hawthorne M.B.C. 9-55 to 7-56, Grace M.B.C. of Gardena 7-56 to 9-75, Grace M.B.C. of Redondo Beach 9-75 to present.

Brother Gilford Shuffield,having been authorized by the Long Beach Missionary Baptist Church (later known as the Sharon Missionary Baptist Church) to do mission work in the Redondo Beach area, began a Bible study in his home. After some months of labor a door was opened that allowed the group to rent the VFW hall in the city of Hawthorne. Regular meetings began. After a few months the Lord blessed and a New Testament Church was organized on September 15, 1955, with ten duly qualified, scripturally baptized believers, having letters of authority from their respective churches. The church voted to name itself Hawthorne Missionary Baptist Church and Brother Shuffield was called as Pastor. The church adopted the Articles of Faith as found in th "Baptist Way Book by Ben M Bogard. In July 1956 the church purchased property in the city of Gardena and moved to that location. The name of the church was changed to Grace Missionary Baptist Chruch. In 1975, under the leadership of Bro. Choi Hokama, the church purchased the property where the church is now located in Redondo Beach. The Church originally worked in the American Baptist Association and the California Cooperative Association. It has remained in the California State Missionary Baptist Association since joining in 1964.
